People often ask how I got started selling log homes. It was during the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, TN that one of my friends was watching a log raising and became fascinated with the idea of building a log home for himself. He came back to Burlington, NC, and asked me to help him build a log home. 

From the early stages of that project, by hand cutting the trees from the property, hand cutting all the joinery with an axe and saw and constructing a very rustic and traditional log home, I realized there had to be a better way.

I worked with three different log home manufacturers and then found Appalachian Log Structures. I became impressed with ALSI’s ability to protect the wood products by pressure treating the logs and by their commitment to quality in all phases of manufacturing and design. 

Since 1984 I have been selling ALSI homes as an independent representative, providing over 50 log homes packages to satisfied log homeowners in North Carolina.

Most recently I completed yet another rustic cabin on my property where you can sometimes find me and “the boys” practicing our bluegrass music.
