In 1996, I, Butch Thompson, decided to retire from corporate America. Kay and I had always dreamed of living in a log home and had been doing research for a number of years. Not wanting to stop working, we made both dreams come true as we purchased our home from Appalachian Log Structures and became authorized dealers.
That same year, with my oldest son Stephen, we founded Thompson Structures. Stephen put his years of construction experience to work and with his dedicated crew erects our homes. This has allowed us to control the entire building process insuring excellent co-ordination and quality.
After graduating from UGA in 2002, my youngest son Ben joined the company working in the sales and administrative areas with me. In 2004, to better define our roles, we divided the company. Today, Oconee Log Homes handles our sales, marketing, and turn-key services, while Thompson Structures continues to erect quality dry-ins and perform additional building services. With this organization, we can give the very best in sales and contractor services. |
