In 1995, Allen and Sharon decided, after attending many log home manufacturer's seminars, to purchase their home from Appalachian Log Structures, Inc. Upon meeting with several of the management personnel, they felt at home with the company and were confident that they could provide them with a superior quality product and warranty for their investment.
Coincidentally, at this time, Allen was preparing for an early retirement from the practice of pharmacy, so the transition to the log home business was perfect timing. Sharon continues to devote many hours of service to the community through the Virginia Tech Extension Office as a certified Master Gardener volunteer.
Allen and Sharon began building their custom model home on “Dumplin' Mountain Farm” in rural Bedford County, Virginia, near Smith Mountain Lake in 1996 and in 1997 they moved into their model, along with their canine companions, and opened their home to the public. The local dealership has grown and achieved many recognitions of milestones achieved along the way, but none are as precious as the friendships that have developed with each and every client. Log Homes of the Blue Ridge continues to be a source of fulfillment for everyone involved.
After Allen’s passing in April, 2008, Sharon has kept the high ideals of Log Homes of the Blue Ridge constantly in sight. She truly feels that she is living the good life, and enjoys assisting people in achieving their lifelong dream of owning a log home—one that is specifically tailored to meet the needs of their families.
Sharon lives and works in your community; she has an investment in the integrity of the local dealership, as do the building contractors she recommends to her clients. She continues to stay in touch with homeowners and feels that each and every one of them is part of a growing family. Sharon would consider it a privilege to help you make your dream of owning a log home come true.
Stop by for a visit sometime and let all of us at Log Homes of the Blue Ridge share the log home experience with you and your family. You’ll be glad you explored the world of log home living with Appalachian Log Structures, Inc. |
